Sunflower fossil
A rare fossil flower from the Asteraceae family, unusual in showing large flowerheads several centimeters across, found in Argentina, proves that daises existed 47.5 million years ago during the mid-Eocene epoch, when modern mammals and birds were becoming widespread.
